Flexibility: High

What’s What: Heart disease is the No. 1 killer for all Americans, and stroke is also a leading cause of death. As frightening as those statistics are, the risks of getting those diseases are even higher for African Americans. Want to help remotely? You’ve got the power.

Amava Take: The American Heart Association and WW (Weight Watchers Reimagined) are committed to ensuring equitable health for everyone. Part of AHA’s mission is to support the ongoing health journeys of African American women and their faith-based communities. To reach their goals, they are looking for Power Ambassadors willing to rally their congregations together virtually once a week to view online health lessons.

Question and Answers:

How are these online health lessons structured?

Power Ambassadors will help attendees take charge of their health and lead the lessons.  Group attendees will take a quick online quiz after each health lesson.

 What else can I do?

Participate in the AHA’s Show Us Your Good program. Trust us, it’s a heart warmer.

Special Requirements: A connection to an active congregation that you can access online.

Setting it up: Sign up for the Empowered and Well Healthier Church Challenge.
