Social Engagement: Medium
What’s What: Tens of thousands of children each year are diagnosed with a critical or terminal illness and have to travel far to get treatment. And you can help their families.
Amava Take: Volunteers are at the heart of the work that Ronald McDonald House Charities of Chicagoland & Northwest Indiana does. They exist so families can get better together and believe that when a child is sick, a family is sick. Since 1977, they have kept families together with their hospitalized children through their Ronald McDonald House® and Ronald McDonald Family Room® programs. Current Covid-19 restrictions have changed the ways volunteers can participate, so Ronald McDonald House Charities of Chicagoland & Northwest Indiana is excited to announce several virtual volunteer opportunities.
Questions and Answers:
What can I do to help?
Families staying at a Ronald McDonald House are often far from the comforts of home, including freshly prepared meals. Through Meals from the Heart, volunteers provide meals for families, allowing them to eat together without the stress of cooking or the expense of dining out. Right now, there are a couple of ways you can help provide meals for families: donating a catered meal, or donating restaurant gift cards.
Can I use my organizing skills to help?
Yes! You can easily host a virtual wish list drive to purchase household supplies needed at Ronald McDonald House locations. Then, anyone, anywhere can simply purchase items from the wish list and have them shipped directly to a Ronald McDonald House.
Are there other organized ways to volunteer virtually?
Yes, there are. You can check them out and see for yourself. They include things like sending heartfelt messages, sharing favorite recipes and more!
Special Requirements: Once you sign up for a volunteer activity, you’ll get more information about any participation parameters or requirements.
