What’s What: The Holiday Season is the perfect time to give back to brave heroes and their families. Soldiers’ Angels Adopt-A-Family Program makes it easy and meaningful.
Amava Take: Soldiers’ Angels Adopt-A-Family Program provides direct support to immediate family members of deployed service members, post-9/11 wounded, ill and injured service members and veterans and also veterans in the HUD/VASH program. Families are individually adopted and receive a minimum of one gift per child (age newborn to 18) and a gift card to go towards a holiday meal.

How do I get started?
If you would like to help out by adopting a family for the holidays, first become a Team Angel first by clicking here. By becoming a Team Angel, you will be able to not only adopt a military/veteran family for the holidays, but also adopt deployed service members, join a letter writing team, sewing and crafting team, baking team or choose from one of 9 other volunteer teams working year-round to support military members, their families and veterans. When registering as a Team Angel, you are asked to set up a recurring contribution of $1 per month, $3 a quarter or $12 per year. This allows Soldiers’ Angels to verify your information and keep up their secure database. Once you are registered as a Team Angel and have access to the Angel database, you will be able to log in to your account and choose a military/veteran family in need.
What happens next?
After you choose a military/veteran family, please contact your assigned family within 48 hours and then all you have to do is pick up a gift card for dinner supplies and presents for each of the children.
What am I expected to provide the families?
For each family adopted, you are asked to provide a minimum of $50-$100 food gift card towards a holiday meal, depending on the size of the family, and gifts for each biological or step-child ages 18 and under, living at home and not yet graduated high school in the amount of $35 – $50. All toys/gifts must be new and age-appropriate. Gifts should be wrapped, unless otherwise indicated by the family. The gifts, along with the gift card for the holiday meal, must be shipped to your adopted family and received prior to the holidays. If you are in the local area of the family you have adopted, you may meet and exchange the gifts, but Soldiers’ Angels asks that it not be at either your home or the military family’s home for your safety and theirs.
