Before you start working with a student or group, find out what the tennis goals are. Some people just want to learn enough to join a league, others are hoping to be tournament-ready.

What’s a typical daily schedule like?

Lessons usually run an hour and are scheduled at the students’ convenience.

When a player hits a milestone, like consistent serving or learning to place a drop shot, it’s so much fun!

Technical sports like tennis come with frustration and it’s hard to see folks get exasperated when they’re working hard.

Special Requirements: Requirements vary by employer and certification is not absolutely required in every case as long  as you’re experienced and skilled. There are different levels of certification offered by the United States Tennis Association that you can consider, particularly if you want to coach a team or teach competitive players.
