By Robert Laura
Who is Robert Laura: Robert Laura, the editor of The Retirement Challenge, is the founder of the Retirement Coaches Association. He is a Retirement Activist who is committed to changing the way people think about and prepare for every aspect of retirement. His nationally syndicated columns at Forbes.com and Financial Advisor Magazine reflect his groundbreaking efforts to challenge the status quo of traditional retirement planning.
Amava Take: This book is an informative collaboration. Twenty-two retirement experts contributed 24 chapters, each turning a different lens on the non-financial aspects of retirement. Topics include starting a business, maximizing technology, volunteering, design-thinking applied to optimizing retirement choices, finding flexible work and more. There’s even a chapter called “Design Your Best Retirement” by Amava’s own Certified Retirement Coach, Joan Lambert.
Memorable Line: “Start by taking a step. Have a bias to action.”
What We’d Tell Our Friends: This is an excellent book to pick up if you want different perspectives all in one place. Each chapter offers something, and while some may be more interesting to you than others depending on your own situation, each gives you something to think about. The chapters with exercises are particularly useful.
