Getting to Know Your Guide

We asked our Guides some fun questions to help you get to know them a bit better.

What is your favorite job?

I really enjoy jobs where I get to interact with a team, or deliver a service. In my career, I've had many, and my current one may actually be my favorite. I get to be an innovation and strategy resource and consultant. I get to choose my topics and experiments to work on, I have a great boss and we have autonomy to push boundries, a mandate to create new learnings and enough independent budget to get the work done.

What is your favorite journey?

The journey of opportunity. It might sound like a self-help title, but seriously, the limits people put on themselves because they don't think the opportunity is right or present is just shocking. I love exploring my own opportunites, joining others on theirs and creating new ones for people who just can't see it on their own.

What is your greatest fear?

My greatest fear is lack of variety. I thrive on options and choices and diving in on new things. I found a community of people who self label as Multipotentialites. It really recognizes that many of us need a lot of great things to keep us engaged and informed.

Where would you like to live?

I love living on the family farm I live on now, in the rolling hills of western Wisconsin. If I were to choose another geography, I would return to New Zealand and figure out a way to stay. It's a great country, full of kind people, and decent government, incredible natural beauty and fun to be had!

What is your motto?

"Imagination is more important than knowledge."

What are you looking forward to?

I love hearing (in person) what other people have as motivations, aspirations and goals. That was not so easy during lockdown in the Covid times. More time convening with friends and family in person, and traveling to get those insights and connections really excite me.

What have you always wanted to try?

Rally racing. Driving a car, cross country, at high speed and having a blast. It seems like the best kind of motorsports I can think of.

What do you do for fun? (or to relax)

Sailboats relax me. The moving of the boat, only with the power of the wind. Chatting with whomever you're with, or just enjoying the serenity of a breezy body of water without the noise, smell or expense of a power boat. It's divine.

What is your favorite dessert?

It's cake. I've been called a Cake Fiend. I'll eat any cake, even Swiss Cake Rolls (a favorite.) I really like cake and when someone makes a cake, it's fantastic, but just the idea of cake is pretty exciting. I even like the band Cake. Anything cake, cake-like or enhanced with frosting is a pretty great way for me to end a meal, also, start a meal.
